Obituary Notice

Dorothea Helen Lawrence Gilbert, 82, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005. She was born November 8, 1922, in Fleming County, Kentucky, to the late Fred and Hazel Helphenstine Lawrence. She served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy in Corpus Christi, Texas, and had a career with the Central Intelligence Agency, stationed in Cyprus before returning to Washington, D.C., where she married, and lived in Potomac, Maryland, until moving to Little Rock in 2001 to be near her daughter.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Harry Turner Gilbert, Jr., and her daughter, Amy Gilbert Pollard and husband, Hugh, of Little Rock; brothers, Albert Lawrence of Brandenburg, KY, and James Lawrence of Centerville, OH; sister, Geraldine Allison of Annapolis, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

  • Mr. Gilbert, Amy, and family. I would like to express my deepest sympathy. I have been Thea's, hairstylist for a few years and she was a dear friend.
