Merle Harmon McCown
Obituary NoticeMerle Harmon McCown, age 81, of North Little Rock, died January 20, 2004. She was born in Eunice, Louisiana, February 19, 1922. Merle graduated from high school in Ruston, Louisiana and later graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in music. After school she and her husband traveled worldwide because of his military duties before his retirement in 1973 in North Little Rock. Major General Hal D. McCown died in 1999. During her active years Merle was a member of the choir at Lakewood United Methodist Church as well as raising 5 children. She adored her family and loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by 3 sons; Hal D. McCown of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Malcolm McCown of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Marian McCown of East Palo Alto, California, Anne McCown of North Little Rock, David McCown of Maumelle, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. There will be gathering of friends at the Ruebel Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Little Rock National Cemetery officiated by Reverend Bill Keesling. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home. Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock 72114. Register Book
