  • I was not able to attend the funeral so this will be my final tribute to my favorite aunt. Merle never displayed other than a vibrant and happy personality. She lit up a room. Her love and devotion to her children, and all children, was boundless. I will always remember her and the many pleasures she brought each time we were fortunate to visit. I remember one time in particular. I was in route to Vietnam ( in 1970) and had a 2-hour layover at Clark Air Force Base, in the Philippines at about 2:00 in the morning. I called her, hating to wake her up in the middle of the night, but knew that I must. She not only was glad I called. She actually came out to the Base to visit with me before we left.
    Rest well, my lady.
