Mr. Voss Hutton, age 93 years, of Westerly, Rhode Island, died Monday, May 5th. He was born November 29, 1909 in Little Rock the son of the late Mabel Voss and M. C. (Pete) Hutton. He attended the University of Arkansas during the Depression years and left before taking a degree to enter the food service distribution business in Toledo, Ohio, dealing in frozen foods. He was recruited by Young & Rubicam in New York to serve as an advertising account executive in this specialized field. He later joined General Foods Corp. in White Plains, New York as Sales Manager of its Birds Eye Division. After moving east, for many years Mr. Hutton made his home in Darien, Connecticut. He was a member of St. Luke's Parish, serving as vestryman and a member of the church's search committee. He was one of the early presidents of the newly-formed Darien Country Club. On retiring from General Foods, Mr. Hutton moved to Westerly, Rhode Island. An enthusiastic gardener and golfer, he was also a member of Christ Church Westerly, serving on their investment committee. He was a SCORE volunteer, a member of the Weekapaug Golf Club and enjoyed an affiliation with the Society of Colonial Wars.
Mr. Hutton was married 72 years to the former Dorothy Taylor of Little Rock, who survives him. Also surviving are three daughters: Cynthia Lafferty of Weekapaug, Rhode Island, Suzanne Hellar of Tacoma, Washington, and Marion (Mimi) Lokkesmoe of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Hutton is to be scheduled at Christ Church Westerly, Saturday, May 24th at 11am followed by a memorial service in Little Rock at the Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel at 11am, May 27th officiated by The Reverend Rocki Proffitt. Burial of urn will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
