Obituary Notice

Lucille Frances Colaianni, 81, of Little Rock died Friday, March 21, 2003. She was born December 29, 1921 in Lorain, Ohio to Paul and Frances Colaianni. She received her baccalaureate and master's degrees in French and Spanish from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to coming to Little Rock she taught French and Spanish in Terre Haute, Indiana and at Notre Dame College in Cleveland. For more than a decade she was a member of the papal order of the Sisters of Notre Dame. She was Assistant Professor of Foreign Languages at Little Rock University and then the University of Arkansas at Little Rock from 1964 until her retirement. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers Gilbert P. Colaianni, Sr. and Arthur Colaianni. Survivors include Rosalie M. Cheatham, sisters-in-law Eleanor W. Colaianni and Betty Colaianni, nephew Don Colaianni and his wife Dana, god-daughter and niece Carol Allen and her husband Frank, nephew Gilbert P. Colaianni, Jr. and his wife Teri, niece Janelle Fureigh and her husband Dennis, niece Barbara Colaianni, nephew Arthur Colaianni and nephew Paul Colaianni, nine grand nieces and nephews, seven great grand nieces and nephews and several close friends. The family extends particular thanks to her faithful and loving caregiver, Alicea Gilliam. 

Her life and witness will be celebrated in a memorial mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church Monday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. by Father Gregory Luyet and the Rev. Howard Gordon, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Little Rock. Visitation at Ruebel Funeral Home will be Sunday, March 23 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, 2801 S. University, Little Rock, 72204.
