Obituary Notice

Billy Joe Blankenship, 66, of Roland, died Thursday, April 17, 2003. He was born in Green County, TN to Toney and Nellie Norton Blankenship. After High School he joined the U. S. Airforce. In 1957 he married Dorothea "Dot" Ellington. He had been employed by Howard's Cleaners, Arkansas Distributors, Building Plastics, Inc. and in 1982 became the owner of Tanglewood Texaco, retiring in 1998. Mr. Blankenship was a member and Deacon of New Hope Baptist Church, a member and Past Master of Roland Masonic Lodge #508 and the Albert Pike Lodge #714, the Scottish Rite, and member of the Shrine Past Master Degree Team. He is survived by his wife, a son, Ken Blankenship and his wife Linda, daughter, Nancy Hambrick and her husband Danny, three granddaughters: Jenny and Jayma Blankenship and Haley Malin, his mother-in-law, Dorothea Ellington all of Roland, six sisters, four brothers and a host of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.

A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Danny Taylor, Rev. Richard Blankenship and Rev. Rusty Wishon. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Building Fund of New Hope Baptist Church, 23924 Hwy 10, Little Rock , 72223.
