Obituary Notice

Bobby Carter, age 80, retired Major, United States Marine Corp, of Little Rock, died Thursday, August 1, 2002. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas where he graduated from high school. In 1942 he joined the United States Marines Corp receiving his wings from aviation cadet school. He first flew single and twin engine aircraft and later jets. He served in World War II and the Korean War where he flew in and out of the Chosen Reservoir. After retiring from serving in the Marines in 1964 Bob received a degree in Forestry Services from the University of New Hampshire. He then worked for 10 years with the Utah State Forestry Service, moving to Little Rock in 1976, where he enjoyed golf and fishing.

He is survived by Nita Atkinson-Carter of Little Rock, two stepchildren Nathan E. Atkinson of Little Rock, Robert P. Atkinson and wife Linda of Benton, Arkansas, one nephew Bruce Wheat of Bennington, Vermont, one niece Linda McClentic of Rockland, Massachusetts, and predeceased by a sister Betty Wheat.

There will be a visitation Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 P.M. at Ruebel Funeral Home. There will be a graveside funeral service at 12 noon Monday at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery, North Little Rock.  Arrangements under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society.
