Obituary Notice

Joseph Wesley Brown, age 76, of Little Rock, past Chairman of the Board of AFCO Steel, and AFCO Metals, died Wednesday, December 3, 2002. Born in Little Rock, he was a graduate Sewanee Academy before attending the University of Colorado. Before graduating from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in Mechanical Engineering he joined the Navy serving during World War II. He was also a past board member of Commercial National Bank, and City of Little Rock Board of Directors. Joseph was an avid golfer and duck hunter with memberships at the Country Club of Little Rock, and Dog Island Duck Club. He also enjoyed spending weekends with his family at their summer home on Lake Hamilton. Joseph was the devoted head of a close knit extended family who greatly loved and respected him.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Thompson Brown of Little Rock, his brother Fred I. Brown and wife Patricia of Little Rock, two sons Joseph Willis Brown and wife Laurie of Olympia, Washington, Gilroy Brown and wife Patty of Searcy, three daughters; Josephine Osborne and husband Jim of Little Rock, Sarah Hopkins and husband Randy of Little Rock, Abigail Whiton Brown of Chicago, Illinois, and 6 grandchildren; Virginia and Henry Osborne, Catherine and Beth Hopkins; and Josh Brown, and Tracie Bartlett and husband Chance of Searcy. He is also predeceased by a granddaughter, Frances Hopkins. There will be a memorial service Thursday, at 11 A.M. at Our Lady of The Holy Souls Catholic Church officiated by Monsignor David le Sieur and Reverend Phillip Panackal. Burial of ashes will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction Ruebel Funeral Home.

Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made to Ducks Unlimited or the Little Rock Zoo.
