Obituary Notice

Jack A. Barrier, Jr. of Little Rock died August 7, 2002. He was born February 5, 1915 in Little Rock, the son of the late Jack and Camille Pearson Barrier.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Flora Fae "Flossie" Canant Barrier; sons John Michael Barrier and wife Phyllis of Alexandria, Virginia, and William Christopher Barrier and wife Nan Selz of Little Rock. He is also survived by granddaughters Catherine Emily Barrier and husband James Dugan of Los Angeles, California, and SevaPriya Sarah Barrier of Austin, Texas, and by his daughter-in-law, Emily C. Barrier of Little Rock. He is preceded in death by his brother William Maurice Barrier. Jack was a graduate of Little Rock High School. He was a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy during World War II in Jacksonville, Florida. His career in sales concentrated on automobiles and trucks, principally through his company, Little Rock White Sales and Service, but also included equipment, real estate, municipal bonds and wholesale flowers. He was an active member of Lions Club International, an avid golfer, a voracious reader and a loving grandfather. He retired early in 1982 from Block-Meeks Realty in order to spend more time with his granddaughters.

A memorial reception will be held at the Fletcher branch of the Central Arkansas Library, Buchanan and "H" Streets, at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 14th. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Friends of the Central Library System or St. Vincent Health System Foundation.
