Obituary Notice

Charles Mabern Adcock, age 66, of Little Rock, died Saturday, April 27, 2002. He was born in Dardanelle, Arkansas later moving to Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock Senior High School, now Little Rock Central High School. He went on to graduate with a degree in Political Science, Languages and Literature from Arkansas Tech in Russellville. While in both high school and college he was a sports correspondent for the Arkansas Democrat. He also met and married Dale Allen. After school they moved to Cherry Valley, Arkansas where Charlie coached and taught at the high school one year and in 1985 moved to Little Rock where he became the Sports Writer for the Arkansas Democrat until 1963 when he accepted the appointment of Commissioner of the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference. In 1974 he resigned his commission to be come a general agent for the Shield of Shelter Insurance Company.
Charlie loved all sports and especially fishing, golf, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Dale Allen Adcock of Little Rock, his mother Fannie Sue Walker Adcock of Little Rock, one son Charles Allen Adcock of Little Rock, one daughter Michelle Place and husband Kirk of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one brother Danny Adcock and wife Helen of Bryant, Arkansas, one sister Sue Frueauff of Little Rock, and 3 grandchildren, Laura Place, and Courtney and Cody Adcock.

There will be a visitation Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Wednesday with a funeral service at the funeral home chapel at 1 P.M. Burial will be at the New Hope Cemetery at 4 P.M. at New Hope, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Arkansas Rice Depot or a favorite charity.
