Obituary Notice

Novis Potts, 88 of Little Rock died Wednesday, May 2, 2001. He was born in Mayflower, AR one of two sons born to Leonard A. and Martha L. Hopkins Potts. He was a graduate of Mayflower High School and in May 1937 he joined the Little Rock Police Force. On May 6, 1939 he married Margaret James. During WWII he joined the Navy and served four years. Upon discharge from the service he returned to the police force and retired from there in 1957. He then worked as a delinquent personal property tax collector, a freight salesman for Jones Truck Line, a bailiff for the Second Division Circuit Court and then took second retirement after working as a self-employed process server. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Magnolia Lodge and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a former resident of Good Shepherd Retirement Village.

Mr. Potts is survived by two daughters: Marcie Potts Bramley and her husband Ron of Germantown, TN and Ginger Potts Davis and her husband Les of Benton, AR, eight grandchildren, Kelley Melvin, Nikki Hayes, Tanya Novarese, Amy White, Scott Davis, Paige Davis, Kim Cox and Lynne Potts and five great grand-children: Alexi Melvin, Creighton and Reese Hayes, and J.T. and Halley Novarese. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son, Jimmy Potts.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Ruebel Funeral Home by Rev. Craig Russell. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
